Sustainable Coliving in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Ecoisleta sits in La Isleta, one of the most characterful neighborhoods in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria — a short walk from both Las Canteras beach and the rugged Confital natural area. The project weaves together three ideas: an eco shop stocked with local and bulk goods, a coliving community for remote workers and travelers, and ecotourism experiences showcasing the island's surf, hiking trails, and cultural history.
For digital nomads, the coliving offer is the draw. Seven rooms are named after the Canary Islands (Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, and so on), ranging from budget singles to double rooms with private bathrooms. Every room includes a dedicated desk, and the building has high-speed WiFi throughout plus a dedicated coworking area with ergonomic chairs. The ethos is quietly productive: the house explicitly doesn't host parties, making it a solid choice for anyone who needs focus time alongside community life.
What's Included
Pricing is seasonal and quite reasonable by Canarian standards:
- High season (Nov–Mar): singles from €25/night, doubles from €35/night
- Low season (Apr–Oct): singles from €15.50/night, doubles from €19.50/night
Both tiers include water, electricity, a fully equipped shared kitchen, coworking access, regular cleaning, laundry, linens, and — a nice touch — free surfboard use. The beach and surf are 500–700 metres away, so the boards actually get used.
Community and Sustainability
Weekly shared dinners, community activities, and a culture centred on proximity living define the social side of Ecoisleta. The eco shop on-site sells fresh local produce and bulk pantry staples, making it easy to cook sustainably without venturing far. The surrounding neighbourhood is walkable and well-connected by public transport — no car needed.
The ecotourism arm organises beach sessions, surfing, cycling, and local history tours for residents who want to explore beyond the desk. Gran Canaria's year-round mild climate and the island's variety of landscapes (volcanic peaks, dunes, Atlantic coast) make this a practical base for nomads who want to balance work with outdoor life.
Ecoisleta is a compact, intentional operation rather than a large-scale coliving brand — which means a genuine community feel and direct communication with the team. It appeals most to nomads who care about where their food comes from, prefer a low-key house culture, and want easy surf access without paying resort prices.
